#NottinghamTogether statement from Festival Director, Carmen Flores

Three candles on dark background
Like many, we have been shocked and saddened by the recent attacks that happened in Nottingham this week. Our thoughts are with the families of Ian Coates, Grace O’Malley-Kumar and Barnaby Webber, and also of those who were injured and are in hospital.
After such a tragic event, the impact reverberates throughout our community in countless, unseen ways. The families of the victims gave moving statements at the vigil yesterday in Nottingham centre. As a way of healing, we honour their words to keep looking after each other, and to cherish each minute we have with our loved ones.
These attacks were senseless acts, and were not representative of our city. At NCMF, we believe in the vibrant and diverse soul of our community. Nottingham city centre is host to many beautiful heritage sites and cultural venues, which we celebrate during the Festival through the transcendent power and emotion of music.
We have been deeply moved by the community spirit and support though these times, and we want to join in solidarity to show the world that the memory of the vicitims – and #NottinghamTogether – will always remain within us.
