Songs of Sherwood Forest
A new song cycle by Elizabeth Kelly
We are pleased to announce a special collaboration with the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Castle. On Saturday, October 4th, we present “Songs of Sherwood Forest” – a new song cycle by local composer Prof. Elizabeth Kelly, and words by poet Matthew Welton. Inspired by the natural beauty of Nottinghamshire, this song cycle coincides with the closing weekend of Nottingham Castle’s FOREST exhibition. The October 4th performance will bring together a unique quintet of performers for the first time who are all active internationally but live or work locally:
Marcus Farnsworth – Baritone
László Rózsa – Recorders
Tamaki Higashi – Violin
Carmen Flores- Viola
Tim Smedley – Cello
Performances will take place at 11:00am and 1:00pm in the Castle’s Robin Hood Galley, on Saturday, October 4.
**Admission is included with standard entry fee to the Castle. There is no advance booking required. After the performance, the audience is welcome to meet with the artists before enjoying the rest of the exhibition
